Bath’s Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa launches new event space
The Waroyal-bath-walled-gardenlled Garden at The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa is an 66m2, outdoor venue available for private corporate functions. As part of the hotel’s one acre of gardens, the Walled Garden has recently been newly landscaped and planted.
For exclusive events guests can hire the four-bedroom Garden Villa as a private residence, which can accommodate up to ten guests.
Tower Bridge wins Best On-Water Venue Award
Tower Bridge has won the award for Best On-Water Venue at the Cool Venue Awards which took place early this month.
This latest win rounds off the venue’s busiest and most successful year yet. Within the last few months Tower Bridge has held over 300 events, from day meetings to product launches and Christmas parties in the Walkways and Engine Rooms, which bodes well for the rest of the year.
Accor to open world’s tallest Novotel in UK
Accor Hotels are due to open 5 new properties in the UK in the next 18 months including the world’s tallest Novotel in London’s Canary Wharf. The 313-bedroom, 39-storey Novotel is due to open in January 2017.
The other properties are a 120-bedroom Ibis styles in Ealing, west London, which will open in June 2016; a 231-bedroom Ibis in Cambridge (September 2016), 146-bedroom Adagio in Edinburgh (January 2017) and a 196-bedroom Ibis in Canning Town, east London (September 2017).
Warwick Conferences has unveiled plans to invest £5.3 million in opening a fourth dedicated venue on the University of Warwick campus.
The new venue – which will open in September 2016 – will offer 650 sqm of contemporary and flexible event space from a brand new stand-alone facility adjacent to Warwick Conferences’ existing training and conference venues.
With a single flat-floor space capacity of 350 seated, expansive ceiling height and reinforced flooring, the venue is a significant extension of Warwick Conferences’ capability.

Q hotels announce £50m refurbishment plan
Q hotels have announced a £50m refurbishment and upgrade plan for their venues over the next two years.
The investment will see improvements and upgrades to bedrooms, bathrooms, furnishings, air-conditioning and conference and event spaces as well as over £1m being spent specifically on Wi-Fi.
New Conference & Events Venue in Brighton
A brand new conference and events venue is due to open in Brighton in the summer of 2016.
Brighton i360 will be the world’s first vertical cable car and the world’s tallest moving observation tower and will have stunning conference rooms at its base suitable for events up to 1000 guests.
The giant viewing pod some 150 metres (450 ft) high can be hired exclusively for receptions <200 people.
Reading Lake Hotel Fire
In an eerie repeat of a recent fire at a hotel near Reading, over 50 fire crew tackled a significant blaze at Reading Lake Hotel on Saturday 21st November.
The fire was contained to one wing of the building and so the venue continues to operate to fulfill its bookings albeit on a reduced scale.
The venue was quickly evacuated and there are no reports of injuries.
Wokefield Park, Reading Still Open for Business
Wokefield Park near Reading in Berkshire remains open for business despite the massive fire which tore through a portion of the venue on 11th November.
Some bedrooms and facilities remain inaccessible as the fire brigade continues to investigate the cause of the blaze but over 200 bedrooms were unaffected and staff and making every effort to ensure that it’s business as usual.
All occupants of the hotel were successfully evacuated.
Marriott to become world’s largest hotellier
THE $12.2 billion deal in which Marriott, an American hotelier, will buy a rival, Starwood, follows months of rumours about the bid target, whose brands include Westin and Sheraton. In April Starwood’s slow growth, at a time when other chains are doing well, prompted it to start exploring “strategic and financial alternatives”. Marriott’s acquisition, announced on November 16th, will make it the world’s biggest hotelier: it will manage more than one million rooms, about 50% more than its closest rival, Hilton.
