Energisers, or ice-breakers, are short, sharp sessions which engage with your conference delegates and are designed to get the pulses racing and the creative energy flowing.
Best delivered at the start of the day of after a coffee break or lunch, energisers will prevent your audience from slipping into the passive “talk to me” mode and get them fully engaged with what is coming next.
Energisers generally last between 10 minutes and half an hour and may involve drumming sessions, producing rhythms on a variety of articles; alternatively delegates may find various coloured gloves under their seats and are then directed in producing clapping beats to synchronise with others with different coloured gloves.
Another suggestion is to hand out (previously unused) harmonicas or whistles which again teams can use to synchronise with other teams to produce a spontaneous group jam session.
Or you might want to teach your audience how to perform the Haka with a real-life Maori warrior. A great one to get rid of any conference inhibitions!
Energisers are guaranteed to leave your audience pumped up, motivated and ready for the next presentation.
